Donald and Irene Willey, married January 1962, began a roadside stand in the mid-70's located in Townsend, Delaware. With only an airline baggage cart and tomatoes from Mom's garden - Willey Farms began. Wanting a legacy to pass on to their children, Don and Irene worked tirelessly, children in tow, to become 'Delaware's Finest (and largest) Farm Market featuring local produce and flowers. Now owned and managed by the Willey children, new farmers markets have been established in lower Delaware and Maryland.
Developing a love for South Carolina during many produce runs with my Mom and Dad - tomatoes from Beaufort, corn from Orangeburg, and melons from Statesboro, Georgia just over the line - I vowed to relocate right after college. After establishing myself and learning the landscape, myself and my husband Mike, settled in a little town called Dorchester, west of historic Charleston.
Established June 2019, Ray O Sunshine offers local produce, pickled delights, jams & jellies, savory pies, flowers, hanging baskets & bedding plants, along with gifts and garden items - this market is a sweet little gem right off of highway 78 in Dorchester, South Carolina - minutes from Saint George, Ridgeville, and Summerville!
The sun is always shining at Ray O Sunshine and we’re already open for the season. We’ve planned out the most amazing selection of unique gifts, specialty foods, fresh produce and beautiful flowers we could find and can’t wait to share it with all of you. Stop into our main shop in Dorchester (open m-sat) or come visit us at our open air market in Ridgeville, (open wed-sat) at the future site of the Dorchester Heritage Center on HWY 78.
